“Tamally Makk” (meaning “Always With You”) is an iconic Arabic pop song released in 2000 by Egyptian artist Amr Diab. Its lyrics capture a theme of unconditional love and devotion, expressing how a beloved stays in your heart and mind even when physically distant, and how the yearning for them never truly fades. I discovered the song while looking up Middle Eastern music on Google. I chose this song because I wanted to explore mainstream pop outside of traditional music, yet find something that still honors its cultural roots. Musically, it is driven by a signature classical guitar melody, blending modern Western keyboards and percussion with traditional Middle Eastern instruments like the oud, qanun, and table. This unique mix of contemporary pop and classic acoustic sound is ultimately what made it stand out to me.
