The song I selected is Bent El Chalabiya by Munir Bachir, who was one of the most renowned oud players in his time, and he made this song, which translates to “The Girl from Seville” or “The Beautiful Girl”. But I must’ve been inspired by the oud performance on Wednesday, and I was searching and looking more into it, and found Munir Bachir, and was exploring some of his work, and enjoyed this song. It’s a solo performance with the oud, and it just sounds elegant and feels like it fits the atmosphere of the region the oud is from. The tempo is slow and methodical, but it still sounds very interesting and almost upper-class, and overall I thoroughly enjoy this kind of music.
