I found this song on a website consisting of many different types of music from South Asia, but this one really caught my eye as I was looking. Not only did I enjoy the music, but enjoyed that they were playing it in front of crowds walking along the street. All of the guys seem to be very calm while playing their instruments as well, which I admired a lot and all of the sounds flowed together very easily.

What they are using in this song is an instrument called the saran, or sarangi. This is a short-necked violin, which measures about 30 inches long. It is roughly rectangular, with a slight broad body. There is also no fret board on this instrument but uses three melody strings made entirely out of ‘gut’.
