The title of this song means Wind of the Soul. The instrument played is called a nose flute and it is common in the Pacific area including, but not limited to, Hawaii. The nose flute has a Neolithic origin and uses nasal breath because that is associated with the soul. Nose flute music is thought to be more sincere and filled with love compared to speaking from the mouth since the nose cannot lie.
I chose this piece because I like to learn about the different flute variations around the world since that is my main instrument. It is always interesting to me to compare the western flute to other instruments that are similar in nature, but definitely not the same.
