The song that the group in this video is playing is simply labeled as Marimba Beats and is not exclusively named and is performed by students who attend Hillcrest School in Zimbabwe. As a person currently learning marimba I was drawn towards the amazing marimba players that we saw in class from Zimbabwe. I found many videos of players from Zimbabwe and something that I noticed in all the players that is different from many western players is that you can visibly see how in tune the performers are with their music and the others that they are playing with. Western playing is often very formal and while the players in these video are playing in a formalized setting, you can still see them moving to the music and feeling the beat, which as a viewer adds a whole other element to their music. The emotional element of music is the connecting factor of music and is what makes great music such an experience and I feel like their performance really encapsulates this.
