I chose the opening song to the movie Lilo and Stitch “He Mele No Lilo.” I chose this song because this is the first time I really experienced Hawaiian music. I didn’t even need to research anything, I thought of this the moment the assignment came. I loved watching this movie as child, not just for the cool story and cartoon, but for the culture and life of the people in the movie. Every part about it really made me want to be there and experience what they were experiencing. I felt immersed and happy just like the music sounds. It has a beat, tempo, many voices, one main male, one more minor male male shouting in the back, and many children singing. there are many drums and instruments used in the song. It isn’t a call and respond like the one we heard in class which is also pretty amazing. The children sing along with the main and minor male voices.
