I chose ” فيصل السعد من بادي الوقت ” a traditional Arabic song from Kuwait that I found on YouTube while looking for music from the Middle East. The video shows a group of men sitting in a rectangular arrangement. One man is singing into a microphone and playing a guitar-like instrument, which I believe is an Oud. The other men are playing instruments like the violin, drums, and tambourine. Some of them are also clapping along with the rhythm. The song is fairly long, and the tempo seems to stay the same throughout the performance. Even though there are a lot of musicians and different instruments, the song doesn’t sound overly busy like some of the other songs we’ve heard. I chose this song because I liked being able to see how they were performing it.
