Wire Recorder Piece was written by Halim El-Dabh, a well known Egyptian composer from the mid 1900s, the piece was among the first pieces of electronic music, and was composed using technology to change the pitch, tone, or other qualities of a previously recorded sound. In this case, that previously recorded sound is that of a Zaar ceremony, which the composer has altered to fit their vision.

Though later in his life he left to work and study in the United States, Halim El-Dabh made his start and some of his most famous pieces while living in Cairo, the capital city of Egypt.
