Most of us know this song and think that it is a Westernized song. The version I picked is by Israel (IZ) Kamakawiwo’ole. He is a Hawaiian musician who passed in 1997. He uses his voice and strictly a ukulele for this song. This has always been of my favorite songs and his version is my favorite. I used to play this song when I could not fall asleep at night. It’s a very comforting song and his tone of voice is very soothing. It has a traditional Hawaiian sound and helps to paint a picture in your head of being on a beach. I am also a dancer and have always wanted to choreograph a piece to this song.
