My Beautiful Hawai’i By Ekolu is the song I selected for Chapter 4, the Oceania Region. I choose this song because I had found it in the lobby of my hotel when visiting my brother in Hawaii. Because of the time difference, I was waking up at 2:30 AM for school and heard this song almost everyday that week. It caught my attention because it wasn’t like the traditional Hawaiian music, it seemed to have some reggae in it and I enjoyed that part of it. I found while I was there that most Hawaiian music only has one or two sounds like a ukulele and some vocals, while My Beautiful Hawai’i By Ekolu has many sounds going on, possibly coming from a synthesizer. I find it to be a very calming, peaceful song.
