For my chapter four song share I chose “Australian Bird Waltz” by Frederick Ellard. It is unknown as to when this piece was written but it was published in 1854. “Australian Bird Waltz” depicts the sounds of the Australian bird call, and I chose this piece because of its uniqueness and uplifting spirit. As I was listening to it I could just imagine the type of dance that may have taken place to this song and the twirling of beautiful gowns and smiles on everyones faces. Although this is not a typical Australian piece with didgeridoo like we learned about in class, I wanted to take a different approach because I really enjoy classical music and this piece made me feel really happy. The flutes and/or piccolos in this piece bring out the real call of the bird and make it seem like there is a bird in the orchestra. Overall this piece made it feel like nature was dancing and the birds in Australia were singing with joy.
