I chose to share a Christmas song for this song share since we are so close to Christmas! “Mi Burrito Sabanero” is a Christmas song that is originally from Venezuela and was written by Hugo Blanco and performed by a children’s choir called La Rondallita. While I think it is important to give credit to the original performers and composer, I decided to share a version performed by another group. The version I chose is performed by a band from Mexico called Banda El Recodo. Banda El Recodo is a band that was originally formed in 1938, but they are still producing (and covering) music today since the band has been carried on by family. I really enjoyed their version of “Mi Burrito Sabanero” because you can both clearly hear all of the different instruments they use and also see them in the music video. I first discovered this song in elementary school during my Spanish class, and it was such a fun and lighthearted song that I thought it was a good one to share for a song share. It has a repetitive rhythm that can get stuck in your head very quickly but it is definitely worth a listen!
