Masaka Kids Africana is an organization based in Uganda that helps kids who have gone through things no kid should ever face. Through music, dance, and sharing their love of Uganda these kids are able to forget all the bad and connect with each other and the world.
In class, we learned that a lot of African music principles focus on the idea of group performance instead of a focus on an individual. This music video really showed that idea. Without everyone contributing their individual parts, whether they are playing an instrument or dancing, this performance would be completely different. It also shows that in everything we do a rhythm is created. Kids were using water jugs and glass bottles to provide a beat at the beginning before drums came into the beat.
