The song I chose is “Huan Le Ge” (Song of Happiness). I chose this song because I feel it represents the type of Chinese music we studied in class and the examples we heard.

This piece is overall instrumental and performed with the jiangnan sizhu, silk and bamboo. It also uses different forms of strings and different bamboo flutes.

This song has a clear beat and repeated melodies. It does seem to be ornamented, as it sounds kind of busy at random points. Some of the instruments I believe I can hear are the pipa, erhu, dizi, and yangqin.

I also just overall enjoyed listening to this song. I like the vibe and beat of it and found myself bopping my head along to it while listening.
