The song I selected is an ethnic modern song from Hawaii. I encountered this song on instagram in a video that was made to broaden peoples choice of music into more of an ethnic scene. The genre leans into Island Reggae and Contemporary R&B. The instruments include the ukulele and aucustic guitar that provide the rhythm for the song. An electric base guitar which provides a deep undertone groove. The keyboard synth gives a smooth R&B texture in the background. The drums give us a relaxed tempo that keeps a steady rhythm. The purpose of the song is to touch the hearts of people in life who offer unwavering support and love. It’s very close to me because I listen to a lot of that type of music and I love when I can broaden my horizons when I listen to music. The artist shares that the song is dedicated to the “important souls” in his life. I think that is a really sweet tribute for his song and I beleive a lot of people can connect with this song because of this. I would recommend this song to everyone because you could take it in so many ways and it is a good mix of modern popular pusic and cultural representation.
