I chose this song because it is one song that made me double-take when listening to it. At first, the background beat is chill and slow while the voice gives it a slightly melancholy tone. After looking more into it, I found that the story behind it is a sad one. This song is from El Salvador and was written during the Civil War. The original artist is unknown if they were to put their name on the piece they would have been killed as it is in support of the citizens, not the government. The song tells the story of the horrible living conditions of the people and reaches out to them. I really enjoy this song because while I might not know the lyrics, the meaning is felt through the song.
