When choosing an artist and song for this chapter I looked at what I would listen to in my own free time and with my family. The first thing that had come to mind was the different styles of dance that are in the latin culture. There were many to choose from such as bachata, from the Dominican Republic, Folklórico, which is danced to Mariachi music, and lastly cumbia, from Columbia. This being said cumbia is dance style that has been modified in different cultures. One of which is Mexico. So, this song is under the genre of Mexican Cumbia. Selena is also a Mexican-American artist, whom has been a large influence on the latino community. I also have grown up listening and enjoying her music. I as well as many others am inspired by her story and her music.
