The song I chose is called “Ana Negm” and it is by a band called Cairokee. Cairokee is a band from Egypt that fuses English and Arabic music traditions together. They have been very successful and have continued to make it to the top of the music charts in Egypt. A majority of their music is focused on their beliefs and what they stand for. I feel as though some of the passion they have for their music is hard to recognize since I do not speak Arabic and the feel of their music is slower, more calm and almost melancholy at certain points. This did not stop me from enjoying their music. The song I enjoyed the most (out of the songs I listened to) was Ana Negm, which is why I picked it to share. I really enjoyed the instrumental portions and the pace of the music. I also found it very easy to appreciate the singing despite not being able to understand the lyrics. Overall, I really enjoyed this piece and learning about this band and I hope everyone can enjoy them too!
