Tulou Tagaloa by Olivia Foa’i is from the soundtrack of the Disney Movie “Moana”. The song is a prayer to the god of creation and translates to “Excuse us Tagaloa”. In Samoan mythology Tagaloa is the creator of the universe and is the god of all gods. I thought this was super interesting because listening to it in the intro of Moana I would have never guessed that it is a prayer to Tagaloa. Olivia Foa’i is originally from New Zealand but is best known from the Polynesian band called Te Vaka. I chose this song because I love the movie Moana and learning about the story behind this song really fascinated me.
