This music was used for dancing in the Maori culture. Typically the fierce people of Maori would chant this song along with a powerful dance. They would preform these dances during war and often times at night to intimidate their enemies. I chose this chant/song because it feels empowering; I can envision myself  surrounded by tribe members coming together to unite through chant. This song is completely acapella yet the pounding, clapping, and vocals still bring an intense musical feel. After reading more about the Maori people I learned they were extremely feared warriors. The music they created suits them well!
