For the middle east I chose a piece from Egypt. I chose “The Mohamed el Sayed 1.” “The Mohamed el Sayed 1” is a type of traditional Egyptian Folk Music. It captures the authentic sounds and rhythms of Egypt’s cultural heritage. The beginning is mostly just a flute type instrument. The flute-like instrument is later accompanied by drums. One of the drums is the Darbuka (goblet drum) which provides the driving, syncopated rhythms. Along with the Daf (frame drum) which is often used for melodic and rhythmic interplay. I chose this piece because it was something I would not usually pick to listen to. It had a slow beat and slowly picked up but overall, a very slow song which I thought was different from a lot of pieces we listen to today.
