I choose this song because of the use of the pahu drum we discussed in class. There is another drum used to create a second pitch, but unfortunately I am unable to identify the particular instrument. In this recording, the music is performed by Kaulaheaonamiku Kiona, a traditional Hawaiian music group. I found this recording on YouTube and Spotify. The song title (Kahiki Lau Lani) means Kahiki Leaves of Heaven. Kahiki means any land outside of the Hawaiian islands. The drum has a rhythm underneath the vocal line. Additionally (similar to the in class example), the vocal line is in a chant style. Instead of clapsticks, it sounds like clapping during certain parts of the song.
