Guadalajara

Joseph Zimmer

Guadalajara is the name of a Mexican city, and this song pays homage to its beauty.  This is a classic Mariachi song, and this version features violin, vihuela, guitarrón, harp, trumpet, and voice.  The music varies from being purely instrumental, instruments with voice, and purely acapella at different points in the song.  During the middle of the performance, the leader of the group shouts a grito, and this encourages the audience to shout their own gritos in return.  I chose this example because it is a well-known Mariachi song, and I love the uplifting and upbeat feeling of Mariachi music.
