Other than recording music, he also is a dancer, philanthropist, and businessman. He started his music career in 2006 when he was 18 years old. Since then, he is known for being the first African-based music artist to reach 900 million views on YouTube, and has also received numerous nominations and awards. The song of his that I chose is one that was nominated for “Best African Video” in the All African Music Awards in 2021. Additionally, it is one of the most watched Tanzanian music videos in YouTube with over 100 million views. I picked this song because of its interesting beat and polyrhythm. The vocals, which have a sort of call and response style to it, follow one rhythm, while the drums and the background instrumental have their own feel and rhythm to them. The format of the song is repetitive with the main vocalist performing a line, and that line being followed up by the other artist or chorus. Both the artist and the chorus behind include visual dancing along with the music.
