I wanted to approach this Songshare from a different angle, and while this isn’t a piece that utilizes traditional instruments as we’ve heard them, this piece however is a notably famous online. The label known as “T-Series” published this piece on YouTube and its accompanied video has 1.5 Billion views, making it the most viewed video on its channel. This song I feel is heavily inspired by western culture, setting its music in keys and even within the video having English on signs and walls to approach to a western audience. The focus on vocals and homophonic texture lead me to believe this piece is centered and directed towards western audiences. This piece isn’t gate kept by this appeal to western culture I believe. I believe the piece can apply to any culture and even if you’re unable to read or comprehend the language, emotion and the video elements still engage and enthrall those who witness the piece. Others have enjoyed this music, as apparent by its popularity 4 years past its release, and I think its a prime example of how music has been adapting and what our window of others music might entail.
