Unclouded Day was written by J.K. Alwood and he based it on a story he experienced in August of 1879. This song has been very popular as gospel music during the mid-to-late 20th century, and was first recorded by the Staple Singers in 1956. In May of 2022, the St. Norbert Chamber singers performed this song for the spring concert, and it was my favorite song of them all.

My favorite part of singing this song was just how it sounded when we all sang it together. The harmonies throughout the song sound gorgeous, especially at the end when we split from 4-part to 8-part harmonies. I chose this song because I think it’s a very beautiful rendition of a gospel song. It has a lot of bluegrass elements to it as well, especially the version that we sang.
