This song is based on the Vietnamese songs “Lý kéo chày” and “Trống Cơm“. From what I found online, “Trống Cơm” is a northern Vietnamese song that children sing along to. I couldn’t find a lot of info on “Lý kéo chày“, but it seems like this is a southern Vietnamese song that is about fishing. I chose Vietnam’s song from Civilization 6 instead of Indonesia or other countries within Southeast Asia because I really liked the style of the music. I enjoy listening to Vietnam’s music a little more than Indonesia, maybe because of the waterfall sort of style this song has compared to the other songs I’ve listened to.
