After finding an interest in Malaysian Rock I decided I wanted to learn about the rock in all the regions we discuss in class. So, this week I chose the song Today by a K-Indie Rock band called Starline. I chose this song because it sounds so similar to the music I listened to growing up. There wasn’t a lot of information on the band or the song on the internet so I have very little to go off of. I found in the video that the instrumentation is very western consisting of a lead guitar, bass guitar, and drums. I also found that all three group members contribute vocally in the band (the drummer excluded in this song) which makes for a really nice harmonization of the melody. These factors make the song very upbeat and driven. This band split in 2017 which would explain the little information on the group, but while together they won many awards for their contributions to the K-Indie Rock genre.
