The example that I chose for today is a demonstration of the Oud. I thought that this instrument was really interesting and cool to listen to after the demonstration on Thursday, so I started by looking for examples of that. This piece is an hour long of Oud music, and from what I’ve listened to of it it sounds impressive. I think that the Oud as an instrument on its own is really interesting because it can play the drone and the melody, and the music sounds full even when it’s just playing by itself. Something that I enjoy while listening to it is the small ornamentation and bending of the strings, as well as the tempo shifts with the same melody.
