This song is the first tune off the record Saigon Supersound 1964-75 Volume Two by various artists, a Vietnamese Nhạc Vàng funk/soul/pop album. I was doing a little research to see if there have been any jazz fusion Nhac Tai Tu ensembles and came across this on YouTube. While I wasn’t able to find much information about the album or any of its artists, I was able to find out that some of the music on this album could have been influenced by music brought over from American troops during the Vietnam war. While the music has western influences, the lyrics are drawn from Vietnamese culture, experiences, and poetry.
I picked this song and album because it kind of reminds me of some of my favorite Motown tunes. You can definitely hear and feel the funk influence on this track.
