The song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” was first sung by Judy Garland in 1938 for “The Wizard of Oz,” but it was sung by Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwoʻole in 1993. It is in the Hawaiian reggae world music genre. The only instrument that Israel Kamakawiwo’ole used was a Ukulele. I chose “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” as my song because I have always really liked it, especially in “The Wizard of Oz.” I find “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to be a very peaceful and slow song. It was written to make you feel like you are in a dream. The central meaning behind the song is that you should make your dreams come true because if you can dream something, you can make it come true.
