The Russian folk song, “Russian Winter” incorporates the use of the balalaika and violins, one can also hear percussion instruments such as the tambourine. I chose this song because it did remind me of seeing people walk the streets of Moscow in the winter trading items, meeting friends or loved ones, and living their life in Russia during the winter. I loved hearing the different instruments being played and how I could picture a scene being played in my head. I could see everything in detail and I could see different stories in the streets of Russia going on while the song was being played. I have been interested in the country for many years and I was very excited to jump into this chapter and be able to look up folk music from Russia and to listen to multiple recordings.
