The Song, Rhythm is Gonna Get You is sung by Gloria Estefan, a very popular Cuban singer born in Havana. She is also an actor and has won many awards such as the MTV Video Music Award and Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year, also selling over 75 million records around the world. Her music style is a mix of Latin Pop and Dance Pop. The song I selected features things we learned about in class such as the conga/bongo drums, call and response singing, and perhaps other elements from Cuban culture. It also incorporates a lot of more modern 80s sounding techno instrumentals. I chose this song because I love 80s music. I also found it very catchy after listening to it a few times and now it is stuck in my head. I guess the Rhythm did get me haha! Enjoy.
