The song Reset has a very interesting history. It was originally written and performed by Ayaka Hirahara, but an orchestral version was written by Hiroshi Yamaguchi got the 2006 title Ōkami. This is how I know of this song, and it’s one of my favorites. In Ōkami (Where it’s called Reset (Thank You)), it plays during the credits of the game after defeating the final boss. The main melody of the orchestral version is played by what I believe to be a shakuchachi, where it does exactly what Ayaka did during her performance of the song. The rest of the song features a koto, a shamisen, and some taiko drums. There’s also some more western instruments, such as a drum set and a piano.
I chose this song because it’s such a beautiful piece, and I find its history to be really intriguing. I’ve played Ōkami for a long time and it’s been one of my childhood favorites, but I never knew that this song wasn’t actually written for the game.
