The sparse instrumentation of the song hooked me right away. I enjoyed how it was structured around his vocals, with there being a bit of echo to fill out the space as well. The acoustic guitars propel the rhythm instead of playing a possibly distracting lead. The major key of the song lets the song still feel calm and laidback more negative emotions. The lack of drums makes this performance feel more intimate, and that emotion conveyed in both the acoustic and vocal resonated with me. Bob Marley’s lyrics also grabbed my attention, highlighting the importance of individualism and independence. He sings how no one else can save ourselves, placing this strong focus in our possibility versus what potential we might waste.
