Rasa Sayang is a traditional folk song from Malaysia and Indonesia, particularly popular in the Malay and Indonesian communities. The title “Rasa Sayang” translates roughly to “Feelings of Love” in English. The song is known for its catchy melody and is often performed during festivals and weddings. I chose this song because of its catchy melody and how it represents the cultural well of Southeast Asia. The song’s joyful and harmonious nature sounds to bring people together. The voices sound very childlike with the Gamelan-sounding genre which sets it nicely into the examples we learned in class.
