The Raga Bageshri is said to be a popular raga of the late night, often performed to close to or at midnight, and is said to represent the emotions of a woman waiting for a reunion with her lover. This recording is sung by a woman, who is accompanied by a Shruti box. It is a homophonic piece, with a single melody line with a mostly drone accompaniment. I chose this song particularly because I enjoy the projected emotions of the piece, the melancholic longing, as well as a slight fascination with the shruti box, which fascinates me because of my experiences playing the accordion.

The included video is actually an instructional video on the Raga Bageshri. The raga ends at 2:14
