The example I chose is a song titled “Piphat Khryang Ha.” The song is an excellent example of a Thai piphat ensemble, which is a type of music ensemble from Thailand, with the use of melodic and rhythmic percussion and a double reed aerophone. I chose this song because I was looking through various forms of Thai music on youtube to see a range of different musical styles from Thai and loved how the song progresses from a soft beat to a faster beat. The song also features the gamelan, which is an instrument key to this region and provides such a fantastic sound. It is incredible that this particular piece is a practice round because the group will be performing for the World Heritage Cultural Center / National Geographic Travel Show for people to appreciate all over the globe!
