This piece is over 300 years old and is the most often performed piece of qin music. This type of music is used for meditation. Normally this kind of music is not played for an audience. The piece’s name, translated into English, means “Wild Geese Descending on the Sandbank”. The woman playing the guqin is Wang Fei. She has studied under a master of the guqin from a conservatory in China and is known as one of her generation’s most talented players of the guqin. She has several awards, has traveled around the globe and given lectures. She has also taken on an apprentice as a member of an apprenticeship program. She has dedicated much of her time to her craft and informing others about her culture and its beauty.
