I was looking at the various genres that the countries within Southeast Asia contain, and I found out that the Philippines has a following for jazz. This caught my eye because I love jazz, and so I looked into this a bit more and found out that there is a Filipino artist who writes jazz music. Her stage name is Sitti, and in 2006 she published a cover album called “Cafe Bossa” where she covers various famous jazz literature. One of the songs she covers is called “Para Sa Akin”, and I picked it particularly because of the way it combines the Philippine language and jazz. As someone who loves to listen to jazz, there are so many different forms of orientations like syncopation, chord structures, etc. A lot of this is found throughout the song, and they meld together to form a warm colour as you listen to the track.
