The song I chose for my song share is called “Pa Wi Bobo” from the Saba Album, which is performed by the band called Moribaya. Moribaya is a diverse group of artists hailing from Poland, Australia, Burkina Faso, and Ukraine. In this piece I hear five distinct musicians, two of which play a xylophone-like instrument known as the balafon, utilizing gourds to create their unique sound. Another member appears to be playing the djembe, a hand-played sitting drum, while another member handles the dundun, a set of drums played with drumsticks. Additionally, I notice another player contributing to the ensemble with the djabara, an instrument containing a plethora of beads. This piece also features vocals by a few players throughout it. I chose this piece for its unique instrumentation and infectious energy that it gives the listener.
