The song I selected is One by one by Julian King featuring Saintfloew. Julian King is a dancer, singer, and actor from Zimbabwe. His main genre of focus is Afro Pop however he has influences from a variety of other genres. He is a newer emerging artist that currently has produced a few quite popular songs. He was even awarded “Best Artist in the Diaspora” at the Star FM Listener’s Choice Music Awards in 2021. 

I can see why King is growing in popularity because I really enjoyed listening to his music while looking for a piece to share. While I enjoyed all of his music, I ended up choosing One by one because it was my favorite out of all the songs I listened to. Another thing I liked about this piece (that I didn’t discover until after listening to the song) was the music video. While I don’t really understand what the song is about because it is not all in English, King looks like he is just having a good time in the music video. I think that adds to the fun nature of the song. I really encourage listening to the song while watching the music video so you can see him dancing and having a good time.
