This song is called “Nami Nami”, and it is a lullaby that originates from Egypt. This song begins sort of slow and meditative, with just the qanun playing. Eventually the tempo picks up when other instruments, including a darbuka and a ney start to join in with the qanun. A female vocalist is heard in this piece later into the song, and her voice is very soft and soothing throughout the piece, and the instruments quiet down whenever she starts to sing the melody. A violin-type instrument is also heard later in this piece, however it is played a little differently than a typical violin, and sounds a bit different as well. I really enjoyed this piece because I liked seeing the performers play the different instruments in the video clip, and it was very interesting to hear what a Middle Eastern lullaby sounded like. The lullaby was soothing throughout most of the song, but at some points it was a little more chaotic and loud compared to what we would consider a lullaby here in America.
