The song I chose to share is titled Nami Nami, composed by Marcel Khalife, but the YouTube video below showcases the live performance by vocalist Azam Ali. The song Nami Nami is from the album “From Night To the Edge of Day,” which includes a collection of lullabies from the Middle East. I chose this song because the performance showcases the importance of the vocalist and instrumentalists playing together to create such a beautiful piece! The song includes instruments such as the Lafta, Cello, Setar, tambourines, and drums, which give the song a relaxing and harmonious sense, especially with Azam vocals. I also included a link to the song translated into English to read the lyrics to compare to traditional lullabies we might hear in western music.
