The song I decided to share is called “Melody of Purple Bamboo” by Jiangsu Song and Dance Ensemble Folk Orchestra.  I chose this particular performance because it shows the instruments that are being played.  I found this recording on YouTube and also chose this performance because there are 10 other songs that are great examples of East Asian music.  “Melody of Purple Bamboo” is considered to be in the genre of Chinese classical and folk song.  The instruments used in this performance are: the erhu (string), pipa (lute), zheng (zither), ruan (moon guitar), and yangqin (hammered dulcimer).
