The song I chose from Sub-Saharan Africa, is labeled Marimba Beats and is performed by a group of students attending Hillcrest College in Zimbabwe. I chose this song because it has an upbeat and happy sense, and the video showcases the members playing the Marimbas. I thought it was awesome watching the boys play the Marimbas, as we can see the excitement on their faces as they get into the music as they happily play the Marimbas. I love watching musicians move around as they play their instruments in excitement, so this example highlights the importance of feeling the music as well as playing the instruments. Hillcrest College Marimba Band has countless other videos on YouTube playing various songs on the Marimbas, which is very awesome!
