Manuk Anguci is a classic Balinese gamelan instrumental piece. This performance is composed of a collection of ~12 idiophones that have a similar sound to chimes and bells. They are also accompanied by three membranophone players, two other idiophone players on different instruments, and two other aerophone players. It seems like the main melody is carried by the idiophones, with the other instruments offering supporting harmonies and melodies. The instruments combine together to form an excellent piece that is resemblant to the harmonies of nature. The chimes seem to represent the skies and river, eternally flowing and twinkling to paint the sky full of stars. Then, the rhythms of the earth chime back, the low tones ever-humming back and teeming with the life below.
Manuk Anguci is an excellent example of gamelan music, and the ethereal melody is sure to pull at the heartstrings of any person who spares time to listen closely.
