I originally found this song as a feel good song from some online sources. The immediate first thing I notice is the prevalence of the voice, which counters the example of the Nhac Tai Tu we listed to before. Listening to the piece presented however, the presence of a possible zither or fiddle is still present. The style of the piece I feel much more closely represents the homophonic style of western music, but some traditional elements remain. Tying into some of the other entries I’ve made, I feel this piece takes a lot of traditional elements and changes them to start fitting the times and what will appeal to a larger audience. While not fully traditional, I feel this piece is meant to be a glimpse into Vietnamese music for a larger audience, hence its television appearance and it opens a door to explore the more traditional music the country can be known for.
