It seems only fitting that I would pick a song from my first favorite pop music group from my childhood. The Jonas Brothers, who are still releasing music today, were my first concert at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee (I think in 2009). Their hit song, “Lovebug,” is on their album released in 2008 called “A Little Bit Longer.” This iconic, American, brother boyband originated in 2005 and are identified as a pop/rock group. From their humble Disney Channel roots, this band gained popularity over time and collaborated with Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, The Backstreet Boys, and even visited The White House on multiple occasions to perform for Barack Obama’s teenage daughters.

This particular song, “Lovebug,” is my all-time favorite song by The Jonas Brothers because it contains both a relaxing, sentimental rhythm yet becomes more upbeat and “rock-like” as it goes on. It has such a sweet, innocent meaning (perfect for an emerging boyband fanatic such as myself). The song begins with a simple chord progression on the guitar, and ornamentation like chimes, tambourine, and shakers are present as it progresses. Eventually the song features a blaring electric guitar accompanied by loud singing from all three brothers. Another reason why I like this song is the beginning and ending casual conversation they included in the recording. As a 7 year old I thought it was hilarious when the guys were cracking jokes. Apparently, this song’s music video was inspired by “The Notebook.” Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus wrote the song in about fifteen minutes.
