I found this song on YouTube under the title of Lā mai lā mai pelee Traditional Tongan Chant. But then found a different recording by David Fanshawe of it called Welcome Song. I chose this sample because I really enjoyed the rhythm, timbre, and pitch. I also love the feeling this song gave me, it felt like a very tight-knit group was chanting these lyrics together and that is a very distinct sound for me. I have also always been fascinated by Tongan and Samoan culture. There have been many WWF and WWE wrestlers from the Samoan islands, and I grew up a huge fan of wrestling. So, I have always been a fan of this type of music after hearing it when I was watching wrestling as a kid.
